Shine a flashlight on the bottom of the piece and watch it glow. there are embedded shells and glow in the dark glitter on the bottom for a shiny effect.
A large crack showed up during the last firing. The crack had gone all the way through. I was able to mend it with iridescent shells and epoxy. now the crack is not visible above, and is hidden when in use. you can see how the epoxy sealed it in the last photo. the piece is discounted for these discrepancies and for having an ugly bottom. Otherwise, I absolutely love this piece.

Although my self watering pots is marketed for carnivorous plants (because most of them have shallow heights), they are not restricted to them! the taller planters like this one work for any larger plant that would benefit from self watering in warm/hot climates. You can adjust the water level to your liking. Alternatively, you can pour out excess water and use the outer perimeter to catch draining water.
