Hand sculpted ceramic rock for Pinguiculas
Paying shipping now will be your deposit. Upon completing your piece, I will contact you to pay for the piece itself which is: $90
Approximate Rock Dimensions: 3 inch wide base, 3.5 inch H.
Brown clay. Porous. I need a window of 3 months to complete this piece.
POROUS piece. This piece has not been fired to maturity, therefore it is porous and functions as an Olla. In hot climates, I find that the water evaporates as quickly as it permeates the clay, therefore I would still recommend wrapping this piece in moss to improve moisture retention. This piece can deliver moisture to the substrate and pings through the clay. there is a cup at the center that holds a reservoir of water. the pockets have holes for water to escape so plants don’t flood out during watering.
This design is an alternative to real lava rocks in which holes are drilled into them to fit the pings. this design is also supposed to improve moisture retention with olla feature.
